Please do, we are very happy to show people round. Please contact us for an appointment so we can ensure we are not in the middle of dealing with the cats as disturbing their routine can prove to be unsettling and stressful!
Why do you have opening hours?
It is very important for your cat's comfort and sense of security whilst they are resident in our cattery that they are subjected to the minimum of disturbance, and for this reason we follow a strict routine. The appearance of strangers at unpredictable times of the day is stressful to cats who find comfort in familiarity, and so we do our utmost to ensure that disturbance is kept to a minimum, which is vital in ensuring your cats’ wellbeing. Although our opening times may not always be to our human customer’s total convenience, our feline customers must take priority! ‘Your Cat’s Comfort and Wellbeing is Our Number One Concern!
What do I need to bring?
You will need a current vaccination certificate (see terms and conditions). Although we do provide bedding and toys, you are welcome to bring your own, as something familiar from home will help with settling in. All cats must be transported in a secure carrier, which may be left here for the duration of your cat’s stay.
When do you put the heating on?
The heating will switch on automatically if the temperature falls below 18 degrees and so you can be reassured that your cat will be snug and warm for the duration of their stay.
Some catteries I have looked at have ornate beds and fluffy scratch posts, why don’t you?
Although these are lovely for you to have at home for your own cat’s use, in a cattery situation they are undesirable as they cannot be adequately cleaned by any method and can therefore harbour infection. All the equipment used in our cattery has been chosen to be able to be disinfected and so you can be totally assured that the risk of any infection from a previous resident is negligible.
What if my cat becomes ill whilst in the cattery?
All cats are checked very regularly, and records are kept detailing appetite, toilet habits and demeanor, so trends can be noticed and action taken early. A vet is on call 24hours a day, and all guests are covered by Veterinary fees insurance (please note pre existing conditions are not covered). We have an isolation unit where we can accommodate any cat who appears to be ill whilst awaiting veterinary advice, and are fully equipped and trained to carry out barrier nursing.
Do you board un-neutered males?
Males over the age of 7 months must be neutered as entire adult males may present an infection risk.
